The
State of Oregon is committed to a patient's right to have protected
health information safeguarded from unlawful use or disclosure and
the individual's right to access and review their information. The
Oregon legislature's passage of HB 2305 in 2003, created new provisions;
amending ORS 197.667, 353.117, 433.009, 433.096, 433.280, 441.117
and 634.550, repealed ORS 192.525 and formalized the state's policy
regarding the additional rights and obligations provided under the
Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
